with Taylor LoGrasso + Dr. Amy Newberry
Do you know the difference between your pelvis and pelvic floor? Do you experience pain in your hips, back or pelvis?
Join pelvic floor physical therapist, Dr. Amy Newberry, and yoga instructor / bodyworker, Taylor LoGrasso, for an experiential workshop dedicated to all things pelvis.
Amy will begin with an educational discovery of your pelvis and diaphragms. You will learn how to connect with your pelvis, how the breath connects, and why you may feel pain in and around this area. There will be an opportunity to ask questions and receive answers to common issues such as painful intercourse, bladder-bowel control, chronic pain and more.
Taylor will then guide a slow, gentle yoga practice led through the lens of traditional Tantra Yoga. The aim of the practice is to settle our nervous system while balancing our physical and energetic body (hormones/prana/chi). This is done through a methodical combination of asanas (postures), pranayama (breathwork) and Vedic philosophy - leading to achieved relaxation on and off your mat. Together we will journey to cultivate body awareness, flexibility, strength, patience, compassion, creativity, and vital energy flow, among many other byproducts of yoga.
The Tri Dosha Series are the set core asanas of Tantra Yoga and the primary element of this style, bringing special attention to our hips, back and pelvis. Beginner friendly, this series takes place entirely on the ground at a slow pace, like yin or restorative yoga. Each pose builds upon the last, stimulating prana/chi/vital life energy for overall euphoric and calming body sensation. A long final shavasana (resting pose) concludes the practice, offering the space to reset and honor our sacred selves. During this period of integration, Taylor and Amy will offer a hands-on diaphragm release by bringing gentle touch to the belly and sacrum.
Explore breath, movement, and exercises for pain relief as you attune to your body. This experience is for anyone with a pelvis, get to know yours.
