Our breath is one of the most important tools we have that nourishes us to keep us alive, yet one of the things we tend to let go unnoticed. Your breathing patterns can tell you about your nervous system, your inner balance, your energy, & so much more. Breath-work practices have been used for hundreds of years because of the many benefits and various usages of the techniques. Did you know that on a daily basis, only about half of your full lung capacity is used? Imagine the feeling of freedom when using 100%! Pranayama is the practice of controlling our energy (prana) by using the breath. Integrating breath work into yoga/meditation classes, moments of stress, and in times you are ungrounded allows you to come back to the present moment in your body. In this workshop you will learn various, simple breath techniques that invite balance to the nervous system & a deeper connection inward. We will begin with a discussion about the history, uses, and benefits of pranayama, followed by a balancing and meditative pranayama practice and a long, soothing savasana. After this introduction practice, you will be able to start integrating these techniques into your daily life, when you feel as though you need to come back home to yourself. Come experience the power of your breath, letting it guide you to your inner freedom.
